Jillian's love of horses has been ingrained in her since she was a toddler. She began riding in California at Chestnut Hills Equestrian Center every summer, but found true love when she purchased her first horse here in Colorado at just 11 years old. Jillian rode and showed with Timothy Cleary for several years, concentrating on Equitation Over Fences and Jumper classes.
Jillian found herself grooming for top Dressage rider Shannon Barnes at the young age of 15. She also groomed and exercise-rode for Melody Mundell (Boulder Valley Pony Club Instructor), Lynn McChesney (owner of Triple Creek Ranch), and several others along the way. After moving to Boston for a change of scenery and attending college, Jillian decided she couldn't live without horses, and moved back to Colorado to pursue riding and training. While there, she took courses at Colorado State University in Equine Science and Colt training, and credits much of her knowledge to the wonderful professors of the Equine Science Department.
Jillian returned to Boulder to become Barn Manager and Assistant Trainer to Grand Prix Trainer Fernando Muaded. When Fernando moved out of state, she became Assistant Trainer for Grand Prix riders Kris and Kendra Espinosa. Shortly after, Jillian began her own teaching business, and has acquired over 2,000 hours teaching beginner through advanced riders in Dressage and Hunter/Jumper disciplines.
Jillian hopes to someday compete in Olympic level Grand Prix Jumping for the United States Equestrian Team, and is currently working towards this goal.
